Assisted Living Core Competencies: Staff Training (All States) 6 Hours
Train every shift on trauma-informed care, crisis, choice, dignity of risk, decision-makers, and restrictive measures — then test and certify.
Give your staff one clear standard for how adults are treated in your home, without rewriting the course for every state.
This online series is built for assisted living, group homes, and similar settings. Staff watch a short introduction, download one student manual, complete six narrated classes, and pass a 10-question quiz after each class (80% to pass). Finish all six and earn a certificate.
What staff will be able to do
- Practice trauma-informed care even when there is no diagnosis in the chart
- Prevent a crisis when they can, use one calm voice when they cannot, and know when to call 911
- Offer real choices — unwise is not the same as incapable
- Support dignity of risk without walking away and without taking away ordinary adult choices just to keep staff comfortable
- Read guardianship, POA, and supported-decision-making papers instead of inventing a boss
- Treat restrictive measures as a last resort, for the shortest time, on an approved path — never for convenience
Who it is for
Direct support staff, med techs, nurses, house managers, kitchen and housekeeping, night shift, and new hires. One course works across states. Staff still follow your facility policy and their state rule when those rules are stricter.
What is included
- Introduction video (how the course works)
- One printable student manual for all six classes
- Six narrated class videos
- Six quizzes (10 questions each; pass at 80%)
- Certificate when all six quizzes are passed
Assign it at hire, at annual in-service, or after an incident. Staff can print the manual, follow along with each video, and use it to study for the test.
